Sportsguards / Mouthguards
A
mouthguard is an appliance made to protect teeth and
surrounding tissue from oral trauma during athletic or
physical activities. The mouthguard can be prefabricated (or
stock), or custom made. Custom fit mouthguards are generally
more comfortable. For children, they must be changed as new
teeth grow. Mouthguards can prevent serious injuries such as
jaw fractures, neck injuries, concussions, and teeth
fractures. Studies have reported that concussions can be
decreased by almost 50% by wearing a mouthguard.
Night Guard – prevents tooth
wear from grinding (Bruxism). Stress is a common cause of
grinding.
Fluoride Guard – strengthens
teeth to resist cavities. Fluoride is placed in the guard
and worn for 4 minutes.
Bleaching Guard – bleaching
chemicals that form hydrogen peroxide are placed in this to
whiten teeth.

PROUDLY MAKING UNDER ARMOUR PERFORMANCE MOUTHWEAR

We are very excited to introduce to you the
very latest innovation in mouthwear. We have
recently become an authorized provider of Under Armour Mouthgear.
It is very important, as you know, to protect the teeth with some sort
of protective mouthgear when playing contact sports such as football,
soccer, basketball, etc. Under Armour has gone one step farther in
developing mouthgear that actually improves your performance while
playing your designated sport…..
Under Armour is proud to bring 15 years of research to this patented
technology that is being worn by professional athletes across the
country. The science behind these guards has been printed in peer
reviewed dental journals.
When you train and compete, your natural reaction is to clench your jaw.
It’s part of the “fight or flight” wiring of your brain. Your clenched
jaw causes your TMJ (temporomandibluar joint) to compress causing your
brain to release an excess amount of performance-sapping hormones (like
cortisol) that produce stress, fatigue, and distraction. This technology
(the ArmourBite Technology) prevents your teeth from clenching and
pivots your jaw forward to relieve pressure on the TMJ. Gone are the
excess negative hormones and the energy draining effects, so the body
can unleash its full potential. Also, enlarged airway openings, result
in 25% less lactic acid build-up after 30 minutes of intense exercise.
Please do not hesitate to call us with any
questions, or to make a block appointment for your team’s fittings. The
time to get the mouthwear back is about 1-2 weeks.
